Happy New Year!

Well, well, well…. look who decided to show up. After months of anticipation, we finally welcomed a new year. What’s up 2021? What took you so long?!

Last year was a rollercoaster of change with whipping turns slammed with emotions. It was the kind of year where everyone held their breath waiting for the piano to fall on their heads. Many were afraid to look ahead because there could be a glass wall for them to walk into.

I look back at 2020 and I see a mixture of good and bad. But, that’s any year isn’t it? There is rarely a year with all tremendously amazing things to report. Every year has its highs and lows. Grant it, I’ve never seen them as dramatic as the ones from 2020, but they are there.

How we view 2020 is all about our perspective. If we look at it and only see the bad, the year really would suck. I mean quarantine, income losses, and e-learning aren’t exactly high points. But the abundant family time due to nothing filling schedules is a plus. Time to refocus on passion projects. Free minutes to learn a new skill. Actually having time to read a book or start writing the next great American novel.

We were given back something the busyness of life stole from us. Time! Suddenly, there’s time to watch a movie on Saturday afternoon when usually it’s crammed with things to do. Sitting on the couch reading a book after dinner is the new normal instead of drive thru meals and back to back sport practices.

I don’t intend to fill the calendar even when things open up fully again. I enjoy free minutes with family. Time to read. And extra moments to share my thoughts with all of you!

I hope this year is a wonderful one. I know I intend to make it a good one! Happy New Year all!!
