If you can’t laugh at yourself…

I have the most obnoxious laugh!

I’m not one of those dainty girls that laugh all pretty and demure. Oooohhhh no! My laugh is a full body, head back, bawdy, attention grabber! I’m talking side-holding, eyes watering, snort-filled laughs. It’s a thing to behold.

I used to be completely embarrassed by my laugh. I would purposely hold in my laughs because I didn’t want people staring at me. Then I met them. Those amazing women who weren’t afraid to throw their heads backs and laugh out loud with me! It was liberating!

The next thing I know, I’m letting my laugh fly all the time. And guess what happened? People laughed with me! Crazy right?!

Being a former self-conscious, obsessive- compulsive, perfectionist, control-freak, you can understand why I might hold in a room filling laugh. Let’s be real. I’m still all of those things. I just dialed it back from 1,000 to like 457.

My husband and I run an online ministry. This year we’ve decided to do our weekly videos live. And together. We are frigging hilarious!!! It’s like a comedy act with scripture and life stories thrown in. The feedback has been great. People love that we are unabashedly ourselves. Loud laugh and all.

After all, if you can’t laugh at yourself…..

Laughed is the best medicine
